Storage FAQ

FAQ - Storage

Q: How quickly can my stuff be stored?

A: Immediately.

Q: Can I store anything in my unit?

A: No, Flammable liquids or combustible gases, perishable goods, illegal substances, or similar contraband are in no circumstances allowed in our storage.

Q: How secure is my storage unit?

A: Most storage units should be safe because there is a person on the premises during operating hours and there is absolutely no access after hours. But since the storage company is not responsible for your belongings, it is a good idea to insure your unit at all times. Ask about our insurance options when you rent your unit.

Q: How long can I occupy my unit for?

A: You can stay as long as you want to. But, most storage companies have a payment policy that requires you to pay for a certain period of time.

Q: Can I access my unit?

A: Yes, usually storage facilities are have unlimited, free access during operating hours. But when they are closed the units are locked up.

Q: How do I lock my unit?

This differs from company to company. Some storage facilities will ask you to bring your own locks, some will have code locks on the doors and others might use padlock. Some of the newest facilities use a security card system like you find hotels.

Q: Who has access to my unit?

A: Unless you want to give someone else access you will be the only one with access.

Q: Can I have my stuff picked up?

This depends on the storage facility. If this is something you think you might need then you should request it upon choosing your storage facility.

Of course there are additional fees involved though. Consult our customer service representatives. If you are only storing a few items, and not your whole house, then it would be more economical to bring it to the facility yourself.

Q: Am I responsible for insuring what is stored in my unit?

Most storage facilities provide a limited amount of insurance. You might be better off requesting additional. Sometimes natural disasters may cause you to lose valuable items. Investing in an insurance plan guarantees you some kind of reimbursement. Make sure you speak with a storage representative about insurance options before renting your storage unit.
